Too often in the world today there is much controversy in the church concerning doctrinal issues.  We believe it is important for the church to state its stand on certain key issues.  This statement is the articulation of certain views upon which the ministry of Louisville Christian Church is based.

  • God:  We believe in one God who is the creator of the universe.  He reveals himself in three distinct persons:  God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus:  Jesus is God incarnate.  He came to earth, lived a perfect sinless life and is our example of a life that is pleasing to God.  Jesus was sent to be an atoning sacrifice necessary to reconcile man to God.  Jesus willingly died on the cross for the sins of man and then was raised from the dead to life, having conquered both sin and death.  He now sits at the right hand of God the Father.  Those who believe in Him and follow Him will also live eternally in Heaven.
  • Holy Spirit:  The Holy Spirit is the third person in the trinity.  He is the indwelling Presence of God in the believer.  He directs and teaches Christians as they seek to serve God here on earth.  He provides each believer with spiritual gifts with which to build the kingdom and edify the Body of Christ.
  • Man:  God created man in His image, that He might lavish His love on him.  Man, willingly and knowingly disobeyed God's direct command, and due to this sin man was alienated from fellowship with the Father.  This separation brought sinfulness, hopelessness, and eternal death to man.  Redemption for man is available through Jesus Christ and only through Jesus Christ.
  • Bible:  The Bible is the infallible Word of God and is given to man for the purpose of revealing God to man.  The Bible is not just a good book, but it is in fact the divinely inspired Word of God.  It is our guide for living a life that is pleasing to God.  It also provides commands, principles, and examples of the practice and work of the Church.
  • Salvation:  Salvation is found in no one other than Jesus Christ.  The Bible outlines steps that lead to salvation: 1) belief and confession of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, 2) repentance from the sinful life, 3) baptism (immersion) for the forgiveness of sins,4) receiving of the Holy Spirit as guide and counselor, 5) faithfulness to Christ.
